I celebrated Etsy Day fashionably late tonight, clocking in at 12:11AM by buying these wicked sandals from zuzsi!

I was standing inside Grand & Toy at Yonge and Bloor a couple weeks back, waiting for a confirmation printout from a fax machine who clearly hadn't yet consumed his morning coffee. Gazing out the window, a prominent black and yellow awning caught my eye- a new restaurant across the street, Craft Burger. I'd never heard of it before and seemingly neither did the alpha male duo standing to my right.  I saw them gaze across the street, squinting their eyes collectively to read the sign; "Craft Burger" one guy says to the other with a tone of cynicism in his voice.  "That's stupid.  Why would you hand craft burgers when machines could produce them faster?"

I'm sure you could imagine the frustration and anger boiling up inside me. As an advocate of all things crafty and handmade, I have a deep appreciation for the time, effort and attention to detail it takes to make something by hand as opposed to mass produced and machine made goods.  We must gain an appreciation for craft and support local businesses ...I think I'll go try one of those burgers this week ;)
